RECAP for meeting on Sept 21, 2009.
We have the result of the initial verification from by co Khoai, co DieuNhac, and friends in VN. Summarized and reported by bro HandsomeBear. We had agreed to hold on to all finalists and proceed to the next phase of verification. This next verification round will be conducted by anh BamBiNo and anh ChanLuan using our ESE staff members in VietNam.
By Wednesday 09/23/09, anh HandsomeBear will compile the files for all finalists. Communications will be initiated by co DieuNhac to anh BamBiNo and anh ChanLuan. All files shall be passed on to anh BamBiNo and anh ChanLuan.
Anh BamBiNo and anh ChanLuan will have until the weekends (Sunday 09/27/09) to meet, study the files, organize resources, and draw up a plan to proceed. We encourage anh BamBiNo and anh ChanLuan to ulitize staff members in VietNam as much as possible. We're looking for an approach plan and an estimate of duration to complete this task.
During this week, co m_la_m will work with co Thanks to inform our staff members in VietNam of the progression of this phase of the verification effort. We encourage those willing to contact BamBiNo and volunteer your service. Although we charge anh BamBiNo and anh ChanLuan with the responsibility, they will be keeping us posted of their plan in accomplishing this difficult task. We do not want to dictate how this verification phase should be done; however, we will relay our focus.
We are looking for:
(1) The authenticity of all documents.
(2) Some sort of proof via pictures, audio, and/or video. Should have 1 picture for each document provided. Should have no more than 3 pictures of each candidate.
We hope to meet again next week to review the progress. During this time, each ESE Scholarship panel member will come up with 10 questions to ask candidates at the group interview. We will meet to compile all questions into a list of questions to be asked. A number will be assigned to each selected question. Candidate will draw which question to answer through selecting random numbers within a specific range.
The questions will be geared to learn more about the candidates -- his/her personality, like/dislikes, dreams, wishes, thoughts, etc. The questions will be designed to learn about the candidates. The questions can be in English. Anh HandsomeBear will translate them into Vietnamese. The questions will be asked in Vietnamese.
A questions was asked: How do we determine who is "out"? How do we decide who is NOT qualified? How do we conclude who should NOT get our scholarship?
The best answer can be given is: We do not determine who is "out". We do not decide who is NOT qualified. We do not conclude who should NOT get our scholarships. Instead, we determine who is "IN". We decide who is MOST qualified. We conclude who SHOULD get our scholarships... Once the number of scholarships is set and it's matched up against the list ordered by most qualified, the answer will then be obvious.
