Default How many jelly beans in a jar?

Alice, Ben, Charlie, David, and Ed entered a contest to guess how many jelly beans are in a jar. Alice guessed 30, Ben guessed 28, Charlie guessed 29, David guessed 25, and Ed guessed 26. Two were off the mark by 1, one was wrong by 4, and one by 3. But one was correct. How many jelly beans are in the jar at the store?

You have 8 billard balls. One of them is defective, meaning that it weighs more than the others. How do you tell, using a balance, which ball is defective in TWO weighings?

weigh 3 balls/3balls if they are equal in weight, it means that one of the two balls left is defected. Just weight that two balls the heavier is the one that is defected

as if these 3balls/3balls are different in weight, take the 3 heavier balls, and weigh 1 to 1. If these two are equal, the ball that you didn't weigh is defected.
Or if there are different in weight, the heavier billard ball is the defected ball.

    Default Candy Jar

Great job, Snow. How about this one:

Handsome Bear wants some candies for hallowing. He saw 5 jars of identical candies in a kitchen cabinet. He pulled up a chair and tried to reach the jars, but Mother Bear stopped him. She said:

    "Each candy weighs 1 grams.
"One jar contains a different batch of candies, which weighs only 0.9 gram each.
"Here is a scale. Use it to find me the lightest jar.
"However, my dearest Handsome, you have to figure it out with only ONE weighing.
"I'm watching you with a spanking stick, so honey Handsome Bear, don't you try to cheat"

How does Handsome Bear figure that out?

Name each Jar with each of the following number: 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. Then take the amount of candies form each jar accordingly to their order in number.
Now take the 15 candies that you have from the total of 5 jars, then weigh them one time
If your weight comes out is:
14.9 gm the lightest jar is # 1
14.8 gm the lightest jar is # 2
14.7 gm the lightest jar is # 3
14.6 gm the lightest jar is # 4
14.5 gm the lightest jar is # 5
