    Default Homework Assignment-June 11, 2007(Honoring Our Fathers)

Write a descriptive paragraph or a poem about your father.

Get some inspirations by reading these Father's Day poems.

    A Little Girl Needs Daddy

    A little girl needs Daddy

    For many, many things:

Like holding her high off the ground

    Where the sunlight sings!

    Like being the deep music

That tells her all is right

    When she awakens frantic with

    The terrors of the night.

    Like being the great mountain

    That rises in her heart

And shows her how she might get home

    When all else falls apart.

    Like giving her the love

That is her sea and air,

So diving deep or soaring high

    She'll always find him there.

    A Little Boy Needs Daddy

    A little boy needs Daddy

    For many, many things:

Like holding him high off the ground

    Where the sunlight sings!

    Like being the deep music

That tells him all is right

    When he awakens frantic with

    The terrors of the night.

    Like being the great mountain

    That rises in his heart

And shows him how he might get home

    When all else falls apart.

    Like giving him the love

That is his sea and air,

So diving deep or soaring high

    He'll always find him there.

A Father and a Dad are not the Same

A father and a dad are not the same:

One can be a dad and not a father,

Or one can be a father and not bother

To earn through love the more endearing name.

Some find fatherhood a bit too tame,

Leaving all the details to the mother,

Or dumping the sweet burden on another

Man with just a passing twinge of shame.

You have been our dad so many years

That you've become the landscape that is home,

The mountain that we look to from afar.

No matter where we go we're not alone,

For you remain within to still our fears

And be the word that tells us who we are.

    Daddy, I Love You

    Daddy, I love you

    For all that you do.

I'll kiss you and hug you

    'Cause you love me, too.

You feed me and need me

    To teach you to play,

So smile 'cause I love you

    On this Father's Day.

    Default My Dad

My Dad was tall and dark. Sometimes I thought that he was dark because he used to have to work so many long hours under the sun. His body was built, and I remember he always let my sister and I cling on to each of his arms to carry us up the stairs whenever he got home from work. He used to have his hair cut like the Beegees because they were his favorite band. Daddy used to be in the Army and it left him a deep scar on his forehead which made him looking quite mean like a gangster, but Daddy was a very loving father. Dad was very gentle and he took care of us in almost everything in the place of my mom because he didn’t want Mom to work too hard. Even that we were poor when I was young, all of us always got to celebrate our birthdays regardless. We didn’t have cake or candles, but we had each other. Sometimes our present was just a new goldfish added to our tank made out from the unused sink, or a simple notebook that Dad made himself from the unused pages in our old notebooks.

Daddy was never a talkative man. He didn’t talk much, but his actions spoke more for themselves. He was optimistic even when we were in poverty. He believed that we would have what we want eventually in the end if we never give up. In fact, he never gave up anything through his entire life. We had been through tough and hard times, but he never gave up even when he had to get up at 4am in the morning and rode two hours on his crooked bicycle to get to work everyday. Regardless, he still managed to spend quality time with us. Sometimes it was just a bicycle ride to the Bach Dang River to watch the lights of the hotels along the river bank. Other times, he would read us stories, or teach us how to look at the stars from the balcony.

Daddy was an artist, and he could draw just about anything that we requested with his own humorous touch. He could come up with a comic strip within a few minutes. I remember sitting in his laps, eagerly watched as his pencil lines slowly transformed into lively characters. Drawing was one of his passions besides music, reading, writing and building motorcycles. Dad was also a great cook, and his fried rice was the best that I had ever had. When we had more money, Dad cooked every weekend and invited all of our cousins over. Then we had activities like singing or performing a play together.

I haven’t been with my dad for a long time now, but the memories I had with him have never faded away. I have grown, and there were many times I wished I could have his hug for comfort or encouragement. I miss him dearly, but I know that he is very happy to know the person I’ve become. I think I am very lucky and blessed to have such a loving and caring father although we didn't have enough time spending together. And even though I don’t know how to get to him now, I know that he always listens and watches over me in everything I do.

    Happy Father’s Day, Dad!

Default From a friend who prefers to keep his nick to himself.

My dad is old, he is not that handsome anymore, but I think of him as a hero, and I hope my mom still find romance around him. Years of hard works have shown on his aging body, I see lot of wrinkles on his forehead; the silver hairs and hump back do not hide the passion he has for us, but speak for his sacrifice to his family.

We do not have that much chance to talk, since daddy is busy with his community services and I always find excuses for not being home that often. Yet, when we talk, mostly over lunch at a restaurant nearby my work, or the place he picks. I’m fortunate to talk with him as a friend. Thus, I don’t have the feeling of daddy is lecturing his undisciplined son. I pretty much spend most of my times at work, and the circle of friends I built up through out the years. Hence, whatsoever the news, from locals, to national news or Vietnamese community news, I learn from him over lunches. What a great pal I make; opens my eyes to the world, and keeps me civilized.

Deep in my heart, I love daddy a lot, however, I never had the chance to tell him so. I think daddy knows it; it's more of an unspoken language. Growing up as an Asian man, I hardly told anyone that I love him or her, brothers, sisters, parents, including the girls I once dated; although the feelings were there. I am thinking of saying," Dad, I love you," to my dad. But I am not sure if I can do it or not. I am not used to express my feeling. I may want to do so, for the time of being, because, there may not be a chance of tomorrow. I can cry a river, but daddy may not be able to hear it, if the time is up for him.

Default My Dad (through a little girl's eyes)

When I grow up, I wish to be like my dad.

Although he may not be famous or rich,

But to me he is a hero,

For he relieves a little pain from many people everyday.

I see him as a calm, mannered and respectful person.

He always seems to come in peace.

In my mind, he is a perfect person,

AS a husband and as a father.

He is a man of wisdom,

For he grew up with books.

So when I have problems or feel in need,

He is the first person I turn to.

The things that make my dad fun

Are when he makes up games and tells me stories.

Since my dad is the man of the house,

He has to be brave and responsible.

The times when I needed him the most,

He was always there on my side.

    AS the day goes by,

I learn to love my dad even more.

I understand him as a friend

Because he shares his opinions as well as his advises.

He knows how to put his words carefully,

So that he doesn't hurt others' feelings.

Now that time has passed and made me 14.

I look back and still realize

How much my dad had given me.

I only hope he knows that I have always loved him.

    But most of all,

I am proud to have such a person as My Dad!

    Default nobody2008vn's poem

nobody chose to write about his mother instead of his father. Thanks for sharing, nobody!

Mom’s the woman always stay in my heart,

One always proud of me, when I succeed.

My mom cried when I was born, After

Mom laughed out loud, during my mature process

Mom’s the woman … I always love and look back

Mom, I look up to you in my heart

One always look to me for anything I do

One stay back my life when I win

And stay ahead when I fell over

Mom’s the woman always stay in my heart,

And during my life, I love and look back

Most of us have a lot memories about their fathers. Some of these memories may be good, while the others sadly may be not good. For me,my father is quite special.

My father has good appearance. He is not only the breadwinner ,but also my friends. He always forgive all of my mistakes ,and help me when I need his help.I remembered the day when I finished the secondary graduated examination.Due to my careless,my exam performance was bad.It was really terrible period for me.I had been self-confident so much that I had never thought I would be at this situation. My father, didn't like the normal ones, shared my sadness.Eventually,my result was not as bad as I thought. And beside the felling of happyness,I admire my father a lot.He became my idol.

When the day went by,I become more mature now.Although my admireness is not as much as it used to,but for me,my father still very closest .
