A young girl killed by a drunk driver

I received this poem this morning, 5/30. I rushed home to share it with my friends at ESE. It was 6 o'clock evening. We had a wonderful and meaningful time reciting the poem. I would like to thank Work, Mizz Lily, Blue Moons, BeBamboo, and Minh Quan Online for their beautiful performances.



I went to a party,

And remembered what you said.

You told me not to drink, Mom...

so I had a Sprite instead.



I felt proud of myself,

The way you said I would,

that I didn't drink and drive,

though some friends said I should.



I made a healthy choice,

And your advice to me was right.

The party finally ended,

and the kids drove out of sight.



I got into my car,

Sure to get home in one piece.

I never knew what was coming, Mom,

something I expected least.



Now I'm lying on the pavement,

And I hear the policeman say,

the kid that caused this wreck was drunk,

Mom, his voice seems far away.



My own blood's all around me,

As I try hard not to cry.

I can hear the paramedic say,

this girl is going to die.



I'm sure the guy had no idea,

While he was flying high.

Because he chose to drink and drive,

now I would have to die.



So why do people do it, Mom

Knowing that it ruins lives?

And now the pain is cutting me,

like a hundred stabbing knives.



Tell sister not to be afraid, Mom

Tell daddy to be brave.

And when I go to heaven,

put " Mommy's Girl" on my grave.



Someone should have taught him,

That it's wrong to drink and drive.

Maybe if his parents had, I'd still be alive.



My breath is getting shorter,

Mom I'm getting really scared

These are my final moments,

and I'm so unprepared.



I wish that you could hold me Mom,

As I lie here and die.

I wish that I could say, "I love you, Mom!"

So I love you and good-bye.

Nhưng con không ngờ chuyện đó đang đến, Mẹ ơi

Một chuyện mà con không bao giờ nghĩ đến…



Bây giờ con nằm duới đất…

và con nghe giọng nói của nguời cảnh sát

“Đứa trẻ gây ra tai nạn là một nguời say ruợu”

Mẹ ơi, giọng nói của ông ta…xa dần.

Máu của con chảy đầy chung quanh

Trong khi con cố gắng không khóc,

Con có thể nghe nguời cứu thuong nói:

“Cô bé này sẽ chết thôi”



Con chắc nguời bạn kia đã không nghĩ gi`

Khi bạn đang mơ màng trong men.

Vì bạn ấy chon lái xe khi say ruợu…

mà bây giờ con phải chết

Tại sao nguời ta có thể làm như vậy…Mẹ ơi

Biết rõ làm vậy là hủy hoại những mạng sống?

Và bây giờ sự đau đớn đang giết dần con...

Như hàng trăm vết dao đâm chém



Mẹ nói với em gái đừng lo sợ.

Nói với Bố nên can đảm.

Và khi con đến thiên đang…

Trên tấm bia hãy ghi…“Con gái yêu của Mẹ”.

Ai đó nên khuyên bạn kia

Rằng lái xe khi say ruợu là sai quấy

Nếu bố mẹ của bạn ấy đã khuyên, chắc con vẫn còn sống



Hơi thở của con ngắn dần…

Mẹ ơi, con đang bắt đầu sợ hãi

Đây là giây phút cuối cùng của con…

Nhưng con vẫn chưa sẵn sàng ra đi

Mẹ, con mong đuợc mẹ ôm con…

khi con nằm ở đây đợi chết.

Con uớc rằng con có thể nói “con yêu Mẹ lắm”

Con yêu Mẹ và vinh biệt…
