Weighing The Gold
You have 15 tiny gold bars and a balance scale. One of the bars is lighter than the others, but you can't tell the difference by feel. What is least number of times you could use the scale to determine which one is the light one?

Hello Miss Snow,
If I'm lucky, I would need to use it once. Otherwise, 3 times would guarantee me the answer.
Method 1:
Weigh 7-7 bars.
case 1: If they are equal, the 15th bar is the answer.
case 2: If they are not equal, weigh 3-3 of the lighter one.
case 2-1: If they are equal, the 3th bar is the answer.
case 2-2: If they are not, weigh 1-1 for the ligher one.
Method 2:
Weigh 4-4 bars.
case 1: If they are equal, weigh 3-3 of the remain 7 bars
case 1-1: if they are equal, the 7th bars is the answer
case 1-2: if they are not equal, weigh 1-1 for the lighter one.
case 2: if they are not equal, weigh 2-2 of the lighter one then weigh 1-1 for the ligher one.
:thankyou:

Wow... Handsome those braincells must had been working very hard in the last several days or you were just born handsome... opse i meant smart..
let's tease those braincells one more time with this riddle
You are being convicted, and you get the death penalty. The judge allows you to say a last sentence in order to determine the way the penalty will be carried out. If you lie, you will be hanged, if you speak the truth you will be beheaded. you speak a last sentence and to everybody surprise some minutes later you are set free because the judge cannot determine your penalty.
What will you say?

Deep down inside, I was cursing my lawyer, but being nice and polite, I didn't say it out loud.
I also remembered that my mom told me to always be neat and clean, and the image of my head rolling around the execution courtyard wasn't very appealing. There was no way that I let myself beheaded. I quietly asked the judge to do me a big favor and just hang me.
While the judge was making up his mind, I went back to my cell, preparing to say good bye to the living world. As for my last meal, I ordered a nice juicy ribeye steak with a delicious piece of cheese cake.
I kept waiting for hours for my meal, but it didn't come. I thought they would hang me hungry. Oh well, no big deal, I guess. I wouldn't be hungry for long, anyway. I decided to take a short nap, hoping to catch a nice dream before I went bye bye.
A sound of squeaky metal door woke me up. I opened my eyes, feeling a bit upset that the dream hadn't been completed. Standing at the door were two prison guards, who were pulling a chain and unlocking the door to my cell. One of them told me that I was free. The judge couldn't make up his mind to whether hang or behead me.
I guess the judge was thinking that if he hanged me, then I spoke the truth. In which case, he was supposed to behead me.
Now, if he beheaded me, then I lied. In which case, he was supposed to hang me.
After banging his head to the wall about one thousand two hundred and fifty one times, he decided to let me go.
A female guard escorted me to the street and gave me a hug good bye. I walked off, wishing that I could continue the dream that I had during the earlier nap. After all, it wasn't every day that I could have such a nice juicy ribeye steak ...

In a dream, which he wished he didn't have to wake up, Handsome Bear was going camping with Snow, Bamboo, and Blue Moon (yeah, dream on, Handsome ). They got to a river and decided to cross it with a small canoe.
Snow, a certified expert in canoeing, could paddle across the river in 1 minute,
Bamboo could in 2 minutes,
Blue Moon could in 5 minutes, and
Handsome Bear, being “a man with a slow hand”, would need a whole 10 minutes to paddle across.
The rules said that the canoe could only carry one or two people at a time, and if there were two people in the canoe, only the slower person could paddle.
How did they get across the river in the fastest time without breaking the rule? :sad_no:

1.BBB paddles across with SnowDrop, and returns alone. (4 mins)
2.Mr Xau Trai paddles across with BlueMoon, and SnowDrop paddles back.(11 mins)
3.BBB then paddles back with SnowDrop. (2 mins)
===> The total is 17 minutes.
The point is that BlueMoon and Mr XauTrai had to "đi chung chuyến thứ 2" hehehe

Thay JK,
Technically, you didn't answer it right because the names you've used weren't in my dream. However, you have correctly arranged the "numbers". I couldn't come up with any other arrangements that were less than 17 minutes.
I'm highly impressed. :salute:
For those who wonder why the arrangement has got to be the way Mr. JK did, a logical way to arrange is to put the slowest couple together to paddle to the other side, and let the fastest person paddle back alone.
:thankyou:

If you put a key in a narrow neck bottle and place a cork into the neck of the bottle, how could you remove the key without taking out the cork and not breaking the bottle?

Hahahahaha This is easy. Push the cork into the bottle and shake the key out.

Great job, Mr. JK. I forgot to ask you how many minutes do two monkeys take to eat one banana :)
Here's another one.
Microsoft has been famous (or notorious) about their job interviewing method. Microsoft believes that beside the excellent academic record, the candidates should be able to think on their feet while under pressure. To test their abilities of quick and methodological thinking, Microsoft challenges them with puzzles. The book "How to move Mount Fuji?" tells many tales of such challenge. Here is one of many puzzle stories that was rumored to be used by Microsoft:
Four new graduates came to Microsoft headquarters in Seatle for a job interview. Instead of interviewing them individually, the manager called all four in a conference room. He made three of them stand in one straight line, and the fourth one stand in an enclosed cubicle. He then put a hat on each of the candidate’s head. There are two red and two blue hats. Each candidate may only see the hat of the one in front of him, but not his, nor the hat of the one behind him. Note that there would be no one in front of the first one, and no one behind the third one. The fourth candidate could not see anyone’s hat, and no one could see his.
“Here’s the deal,” the manager said, “if any one of you can tell me correctly the color of his own hat then I’ll continue the interview.” “The rule is,” he continued, “you may not communicate to each other, and you may not speak up unless you know the color of your hat. You have 2 minutes to tell me, or you can all go home.”
At exactly two minutes, one candidate told the manager the color of his hat correctly. How does he do that?
:thankyou:
I forgot to ask you how many minutes do two monkeys take to eat one banana :)
hahahahaa it might take a little longer than 5 mins. :) :salute:

The only two person would be able to tell their hats color are the LAST guy and the MIDDLE guy.
Because they were standing in one straight line, the LAST guy in line would albe to see the two in front of him , If the two guys in front have the same color hats. The LAST person would be able to speak up to the manager his hat color. (such as two guys in front have red hats, then the LAST guy would know he has the blue hat, or else, if the two guys in front have blue hats, then he would know that he has a red hat )
Unless the two in front of the Last guy have two different color hats, Then the LAST guy would not able to speak up the color of his hat. Since the LAST guy couldn't tell his hat color and couldn't speak up, the MIDDLE guy would be able to guess that he and the one in front of him have different color hat. Therefore, If the FIRST guy has a red hat, then the Middle guy would know that he has a blue hat. (or the FIRST guy has a blue hat, then The MIDDLE guy would be able to know that he has a red hat).
for the FIRST and the CUBICLE guy, each of them can only make a lucky guess.
i hope this makes sense

Snow's answer seems quite logical IF, and only IF, the last guy can actually see the two hats in front of him.
"Each candidate may only see the hat of the one in front of him, but not his, nor the hat of the one behind him.
Since each candidate can only see the HAT of the one in front of him, I would assume that the last candidate isn't able to see the hat of the first person, right?

Snow,
I hereby certify you as a riddle expert. It took me a while to go through all the probabilities while it only took you few minutes from the time I told you about the riddle.
I guess what got me was that I didn't consider the case when the second person has to make his decision based on the third person being quiet.
Now I need to go looking for a harder one for you.

SnowDrop is holding a math class. Handsome Bear is trying to enroll in the class. However, it looks as if the total number of students exceed the number of seats that are made available for the class (meaning: some students might have to use the ground as their cushion). Yes, the class is over-crowded. Handsome Bear, being the motivated and driven man that he is, went to SnowDrop to seek for justice and possibly to beg for approval to enroll in the class that he oh-so-very need to graduate! SnowDrop, irritated from Handsome Bear's crying and sobbing, sympathizes with Handsome Bear's situation and offers him a chance to prove his eligibility.
"Now, Handsome Bear," she says, "once you stop with your begging, I will supply you with an add code (so you can add the class) if you can tell me the exact number of chairs and students enrolled in the class."
"If we assign two students per chair..." she proceeds, "then we will have an extra(empty:vacant) chair for... possibly a future guest speaker."
"However..." she hesitates, "if we assign one student per chair then we will have an unfortunate student without a chair to sit on."
"If you can tell me how many chairs and how many students are in my class, I will be happy to render you with an add code."
